Leonardo DiCaprio has praised a move by the 2020 Golden Globes organisers to serve a 100% plant-based meal to guests at Sunday's ceremony.
The Titanic actor, who has long campaigned on environmental issues despite receiving criticism for private jet usage, praised the move on Twitter on Thursday.
Responding to a tweet from the Hollywood Reporter which confirmed the plan, Leonardo, 45, thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), who organise the event, where he is nominated for the Best Actor gong.

Leonardo appeared keen to raise awareness for the issue while praising the move, as he wrote in his tweet: 'Thank you HFPA @goldenglobes'.

At the 77th annual awards show on Sunday, guests including Leonardo - who is nominated for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - will be served a 100 per cent plant-based meal for the first time ever.
Bosses at the HFPA said it wanted to raise awareness about food consumption and waste with the initiative.

The eco-conscious move will make the Golden Globes the first awards of its kind to go vegan for the meal on the night.
Leonardo regularly demonstrates his environmental ethos with his Instagram posts, where he highlights the effects of climate change on the planet and wildlife.
Following the wildfires which swept across parts of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil in August, Leonardo said in a statement on Instagram that he supported the 'people of Brazil' who were 'working to save their natural and cultural heritage'.

However, the star has previously been criticised for being outspoken on environmental issues despite having been photographed boarding private jets and making use of luxury yachts.
In September, he said there was 'no more time for denial' as he praised environmental campaigner Greta Thunberg at the Global Citizen festival in NYC.
Despite his goodwill, his comments were seized upon by Twitter users who shared photos of Leonardo boarding a private jet and sunbathing on yachts.

This travel included two round trips from Los Angeles to New York, and one from LA to Las Vegas.
