Meghan and Harry are currently in Canada as part of a six week break from royal duties. Whilst hiking in British Columbia the couple, named by CTV News as Iliya Pavlovic and Asymina Kantorowicz, stopped to take a photograph.
As both wanted to be included in the picture they used a selfie stick.
However another couple then appeared, with the woman offering to take a photograph instead.
She then took three pictures before handing the camera back.
The couple believe the woman who took their pictures was Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
Speaking to CTV News Ms Kantorowicz commented: “We noticed a group was standing nearby and they had two dogs, one of which was approaching us.
“[The woman] starts asking if we want her to take a photo for us.
“We said sure. I didn't see who she was at that time.
“I thought she looked familiar, but didn't think it could actually be her.

Ms Spencer co-stared in US legal drama Suits with Meghan and is known to be a personal friend of the Duchess.
In May last year Meghan gave birth to the couple’s son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
The baby holds both British and American citizenship reflecting its parentage.
Meghan and Harry married in May 2018 at St George’s chapel in Windsor Castle.
The Sussexes have been away from Britain since November with seven-month-old son Archie Harrison. They decided to spend their Christmas privately in Canada and did not attend Sandringham this year.
Appearing via video link on ITV’s Lorraine, the BBC’s former royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, claimed 2020 could be a difficult year for Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35.
The 69-year-old said: “They’ve spent the last six weeks we believe in Canada and I think this will be a tricky year.
“We’ve got to see if they can hack it, can they take the public scrutiny? The public role that is theirs.
“Because they’ve both spoken about their fragile state, Harry very openly about his mental problems.
“So they are coming back to full-time work - I hope they can manage it.”
