CAROLINE Flack’s funeral was held in an enchanting forest close to where she grew up, her family has revealed.
The presenter’s mum, Christine, said the ceremony was near their home in Norfolk as they had wanted to “bring her back home”.
More than 200 loved ones travelled from across the world and spent two hours remembering the star at GreenAcres, ceremonial park set in 16 acres of woodland at Colney, Norwich.
Family and friends then held a wake in local pub The Black Horse.
Mum Christine, 69, said: “There were lots of memories, smiles but mostly tears as we all remembered Carrie and the joy she had brought to all of our lives.”
The Love Island star hanged herself at home in Stoke Newington, North London, on February 15.
It came the day after she learned that her court case for assault, following a domestic row in December, was still going ahead.
Her funeral service included two moving live performances from West End and X Factor star Lucie Jones who sang She Used To Be Mine from the musical Waitress.
Close friend Ciara also performed a song called The Sulking Room which was written for Caroline.
Guests wore T-shirts designed by another close friend, Celebrity Juice star Leigh Francis.
Mum Christine said: “All the family would like to say thank you so much to all Carrie’s friends who travelled from all over the world to be there that day and who appreciated why we wanted to bring her back home to Norfolk.
“Friends included all the old pals she had either worked alongside or presented with on Fash FC, I’m A Celebrity, Xtra Factor, Love Island, friends old and new from the world of Strictly, the Bake Off and many, many more.
“Her friends from schooldays, college days and present day also gathered to exchange stories and pay tributes to my beautiful girl.”
Caroline had denied the assault charges and was said to fear her case becoming a domestic abuse show trial.
Last month, an inquest into her death was opened and heard that she was found hanging by a friend in the early hours.
She was taken down by a friend who ran into the street and flagged down a passing police car.
Police performed CPR but, after paramedics arrived, she was pronounced dead at the scene, the inquest at Poplar coroner’s court in East London was told.
A full inquest is due to take place on August 5.
YOU'RE NOT ALONE
EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.
It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society - from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.
It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.
And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.
Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.
That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.
Let's all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others... You're Not Alone.
