Tiger King podcast host Joe Moor wants Margot Robbie to play Joe Exotic in the upcoming mini-series adaptation
Netflix's Tiger King documentary series has become a pop culture sensation, and with a mini-series adaptation on the way, an unusual casting suggestion has surfaced: Margot Robbie as Joe 'Exotic' Schreibvogel.
The suggestion came from Robert Moor, who hosts the Joe Exotic: Tiger King podcast that the mini-series is based on, appeared on Andy Cohen's Radio Andy Sirius XM program, where he was asked about casting.
Kate McKinnon has been attached to play Carole Baskin in the Universal Cable Productions mini-series since November, which is in active development though it isn't set up at a network quite yet, according to TV Line.

When Cohen asked if he was involved in the casting, Moor said he is 'beyond involved,' and said that Sam Rockwell's name has been bandied about for Joe Exotic, though his pick is Margot Robbie.
'My preferred casting, and this is a bit off the wall, would be Margot Robbie,' he said. 'I think Margot Robbie should play Joe in like a gender-switched role.'
Cohen argued that the 29-year-old Robbie is, 'not ugly enough' to play the 57-year-old Joe Exotic, though Moor argued their eyes have similar qualities.

'Look at her eyes, that's the thing,' with Cohen realizing he was right, adding, 'Oh my God you're so right I just got chills.'
Moor added that he thinks she would 'love it,' because, 'the show will have a very I, Tonya vibe,' referring to Robbie's 2017 critically-acclaimed film where she played disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding.
When asked if there were any other casting suggestions, Moor said he heard John C. Reilly should play Bhagavan 'Doc' Antle, adding, 'I like that a lot.'

Netflix's seven-episode Tiger King documentary series launched on March 20, and has quickly become a hot topic of conversation on social media.
The series centers on the eccentric Joe Exotic, described as a, 'mulleted, gun-toting polygamist and country western singer who presides over an Oklahoma roadside zoo.'

The show follows his rivalry with Carole Baskin, an animal activist and owner of a big cat sanctuary threatening to put Joe Exotic out of business.
The rivalry eventually leads to Joe's arrest in a murder-for-hire plot to kill Baskin, along with 17 charges of animal abuse.
There is no indication when production may begin on the Tiger King mini-series adaptation, but given the buzz swirling around the docu-series, it may help get the mini-series into production quicker than anticipated.
As for Robbie, she has yet to respond to Moor's suggestion that she play Joe Exotic in the Tiger King mini-series.
