The show tells the real-life story of a zoo owner called Joe Exotic, who spirals out of control amid a cast of eccentric characters in this true murder-for-hire story from the underworld of big cat breeding.

Viewers have been gripped by Joe's insistence that his arch-rival, Big Cat Rescue sanctuary owner Carole killed her husband, multi-millionaire and real estate developer Jack 'Don' Lewis.

He went missing 23-years ago and has since been declared dead although a body has never been found.

On Tuesday, Gwyneth responded to a post by Sara F Carter, which read: 'Absolutely iconic Carole Baskin did Tiger King thinking she'd get to expose Joe Exotic and Doc Antle for animal abuse and now all of America is obsessed with Joe and thinks Carole is a murderer. That's showbiz baby!'

Gwyneth penned underneath: 'There can be no other explanation.'

Carole maintained her innocence when she was questioned about her missing husband on the docu-series.

She said she Don either fled to Costa Rica, or he thrown off a plane over the Gulf Of Mexico. His car was recovered at an airfield in Pasco County.

Just ridiculous: Carole has rubbished any claims that she could possibly have killed her first husband Don and said she thinks he either flew to Costa Rica or was pushed out of a plane over the Gulf Of Mexico

Detectives have said there was no way one of Don's private planes could have held enough fuel to take him all the way to Costa Rica, after Carole said he would often fly below the radar because he had lost his pilot's licence.

Carole has since married second husband Howard, and she addressed claims made by Joe Exotic that she could have killed her husband and fed to him her tigers.

She has never been charged with any crime.

Carole said: 'As Gladys [Don's first wife]  and the daughters did everything they could to make life difficult for me after Don disappeared, they spread this rumor that they thought I had ground Don up and fed him to the cats.

'And the media loved it. The meat grinder shown in the video was enormous.

'Our meat grinder was one of those little tabletop, hand crank things, like you'd have in your kitchen at home, like the one pictured here.'

'Meat had to first be cut into one-inch cubes like you see here to go through it. The idea that a human body and skeleton could be put through it is idiotic.

'But the Netflix directors did not care. They just showed a bigger grinder.'

Joe, real name Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, was so convinced of Carole's guilt, he created a YouTube music video called Here Kitty Kitty in which a Carole lookalike fed pieces of human meat to the tigers.

Moreover, Don's first wife Gladys said she had her suspicions about how Don died but has been too scared to speak up about Carole in the past.

Celebrating: Carole has since married second husband Howard - she shared this post with him after Joe was sentenced to 22 years in prison for  paying a hitman to kill her, and of killing tigers to make room for more cats in his animal park

As a body was never found, Carole had to wait five years before legally claiming access to Don's estate. She waited five years and one day.

Joe has since been imprisoned for 22 years after being found guilty of paying a hitman to kill Carole, and for illegally euthanising tigers.

Carole has since slammed the Netflix show, calling it 'salacious and sensational' in a new blog post and continued to maintain her innocence.

She also said: 'Don was not easy to live with and like most couples, we had our moments.

'But I never threatened him and I certainly had nothing to do with his disappearance.'

Yet no matter how Don disappeared, it's clear that the show has brought a renewed interest in the case.

According to NBC News, a Florida sheriff is looking for new leads in the case.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister has been searching for new clues to discover what happened to Don. Don would now be 81 years old.

On Tuesday, singer Cardi B backtracked on her decision to start a GoFundMe page to help Joe Exotic's release.

But the rapper's big Twitter talk about raising money for his defense won't happen -- because GoFundMe doesn't open its platform to inmates convicted of violent crimes.

Once Cardi got word about the company's terms of service stipulation, she backtracked and maintained she was only joking when she offered to start the defense fund.

'Omg I was just playing,' the I Like It rapper began in a new Tweet on Monday. I do love him tho and he deff needed better representation.'
