But Cheryl was the one caught off guard when she was tricked into thinking that quarantined Italians were singing her hit tracks from their balconies.
The 36-year-old singer took to Twitter on Sunday to share a viral video that appeared to show dozens of people singing her 2010 release Fight For This Love.

Katy Perry and Madonna also fell for the prank over their hits Roar and I Rise respectively.

Katy wrote: 'You cannot break the human spirit. We are one in this [heart emoji and Italian flag emoji].'

But all of the footage had in fact been doctored.
The original clips featured a group of neighbours in Naples singing rousing football chants together in an attempt to lift their spirits.

Fans were quick to comment on the posts with many trying to point out that the videos were fake.
One of Cheryl's followers, @putasinghonit, wrote: 'Cheryl, delete this quick. Its fake.'
Another, @LiamLambrini, commented: '@CherylOfficial you... you do know this isn’t real don’t you, hun?!'
And a third, @MariahKP5, added: 'First Katy, then Madonna, now you jkskdkskd. bye.'

In Italy the number of confirmed cases is now at more than 24,000 with deaths exceeded 1,800.
The country is currently on lockdown with public events banned as well as cinemas, gyms and pubs closed.
The prank comes after Cheryl left fans baffled with her changing eye colour after wearing a pair of green lenses on the Greatest Dancer.

Some viewers took to Twitter to complement the unusual accessory and said they 'loved them' but others did not take to the new look.
