Dancing on Ice star denies show split up Maura and Curtis - digitalspy.com

Dancing on Ice star Joe Swash has weighed in on whether or not the show's infamous curse is to blame for contestant Maura Higgins's split from boyfriend Curtis Pritchard.

Maura and her Love Island co-star confirmed their break-up with only a few days to go before she is due to return one last time for the Dancing on Ice finale this weekend, following her elimination last month.

When Digital Spy and others spoke to Dancing on Ice finalist Joe Swash this week, he rubbished the idea of a Dancing on Ice curse even existing.

"I don't think Maura's situation had anything to do with Dancing on Ice," he told us. "I think that was just the general situation of what was going on. I don't think there is a curse.

"The only curse we've had this year is Kevin and Brianne and that's an amazing curse. They are the real winners of this series.

"Sometimes when people get together, there is an attraction. With Kevin and Brianne there was, they are getting married!

"This is a normal job. I didn't come into this thinking, 'What if the curse gets me? What am I going to say to Stacey [Solomon]?' I don't think there is a DOI curse. It's mainly Strictly they talk about. All the curses [here] have been good ones.

Maura confirmed she'd separated from Curtis earlier this week, but stressed that they'd "enjoyed a great experience" inside the villa together.

"There is no easy way to get through a break-up and no bad feeling on either side," she said. "We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."

Dancing on Ice airs on ITV.
