Royal enthusiasts have gone wild over a new clip of the Cambridge children - pointing out how similar they look to their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and their great grandmother the Queen.

Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, one, led millions of people across the UK in showing appreciation for NHS staff who are on the frontline of the fight against coronavirus.

The youngsters were filmed laughing and clapping together in a garden - with the clip being shared yesterday on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Instagram account alongside the #ClapForOurCarers.

And fans were quick to comment on how similar the siblings looked to the older royal generation - comparing Princess Charlotte to the Queen, 93, Prince Louis to his mother Kate, 38, and Prince George with Prince William, 37.

Fans flooded social media with their thoughts, with one posting: 'This is gorgeous. Can't believe how much Princess Charlotte looks like Queen Elizabeth.'

One person said: 'Tell you what right, Prince George doesn't half look like his dad', as another added: 'The eldest boy looks like his dad'. 

The clip on Kensington Palace's Instagram account was caption: 'To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you.'

While Prince George lead the applause, Princess Charlotte could be seen offering a shy smile.

Meanwhile Prince Louis appeared to gaze up at his elder siblings as he joined their clapping tribute. 

The trio were among hundreds across the nation who flocked to their doorways, balconies, gardens and windows to give a heartwarming round of applause at 8pm yesterday. 

The London Eye, the Wembley Arch, the Royal Albert Hall, the Principality Stadium and Lincoln Cathedral were among the landmarks lit a vivid 'NHS blue' during the emotional salute.

The Clap For Carers campaign, which started online, has been staged because 'during these unprecedented times they need to know we are grateful', the organisers said.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are currently living with their parents at the family's Norfolk home, Amner Hall, where Prince George and Charlotte are being home-schooled.
