The scathing post came after female MPs from across the House of Commons wrote to Meghan to show their support and solidarity after her recent media scrutiny. A post from royal correspondent Chris Ship showed the full letter and was accompanied by an explanatory caption.
The post read: “NEW: Female MPs from across the House of Commons write to the Duchess of Sussex to express their ‘solidarity’ with Meghan for ‘taking a stand against the often distasteful and misleading nature’ of some newspaper stories about her.
“Organised by Holly Lynch.”
The letter was organised by Labour Party MP for Halifax, West Yorkshire, Holly Lynch.
However, Good Morning Britain host Piers branded the claim “extraordinary” and “a very dangerous attempt to suppress freedom of the press.”
His comment on Twitter read: “WOW. Female MPs accuse press of being racist towards Meghan Markle.
“I hope they can justify that extraordinary claim, and that they urgently clarify which stories they think are unfairly intrusive?
“This looks like a very dangerous attempt to suppress freedom of the press.”
But now Meghan’s Twitter fans have jumped to her rescue and are slating the ITV host for his insensitivity.

Ron Wiltshire tweeted: “Couldn’t resist having a go could you, you really must seek help for this obsession as it is not healthy!”
Another angry user replied saying: “Piers Morgan is so vociferous in his defence of the Freedom of the Press and yet so silent in his condemnation of colleagues for obtaining stories by illegal methods or releasing stories that at best could be described as morally questionable.”
One user said: “As a leading figure in the campaign against her it's no surprise you're all over this.”
Despite the criticism many social media users agreed with Piers’ accusations.
Alex Wirral wrote to Piers on Twitter saying: “Weirdly I had so much more respect for Harry when he was naked and drunk than right now.”
Bill Singh replied to Piers’ post saying: “This life does not suit the guy, he needs to get back to Vegas.”
Another Twitter user said: “He always came across as a fun character and game for a laugh.
“Really miserable these days.”
The ITV host also attacked Meghan in September after she share a Dalai Lama Instagram quote.
Meghan’s picture featured a quote from the Dalai Lama about compassion in today’s world.
It read: “I believe that at every level of society – familial, tribal, national and international – the key to a happier and most successful world is the growth of compassion.”
However, Piers slammed Meghan on Good Morning Britain, saying she does not practice what she preaches.
