Simon Cowell abruptly cancelled his 60th celebration on Monday, just two days before he was supposed to host an exclusive party tonight.
The X Factor judge had celebrity friends flying in from around the world to celebrate his milestone birthday.
The spectacular bash was due to take place at fancy Chelsea restaurant, La Famiglia, which has hosted stars from around the world such as Princess Margaret, Brigitte Bardot and Michael Caine.
But Simon and his partner, Lauren Silverman, sent out cancellations due to “scheduling conflicts” leaving his showbiz friends' plans in tatters.
The cancellation apparently read: “Dear all, I am so sorry but this dinner is cancelled/postponed.
“Scheduling conflicts unfortunately are prohibiting us from having this dinner at this time.
“We will keep you posted as to when it will be rescheduled for. Thank you for understanding, Lauren and Simon.”
To give some more insight into why the extravagant affair was cancelled, a spokesperson for the music mogul told MailOnline: “The decision was made to postpone the dinner yesterday morning.
“Simon's priority is his incredibly busy work schedule over the next month and this, of course, includes the current series of The X Factor as well as other TV and music projects.”
Simon celebrated his birthday earlier this month on 7 October, with an intimate dinner at Nobu in Malibu, accompanied by his family and friends on his official birthday.
A source told MailOnline: “Simon had planned a suitably extravagant event for his 60th and had guests flying in from all over the world to celebrate.
“Cancelling just days before has really thrown people’s plans up into the air.”
Simon and Lauren are said to be planning another celebration for December, giving him chance to work on his professional commitments.
On Saturday evening Simon admitted he hadn’t spent enough time with his acts on X Factor: Celebrity and he wasn’t happy with their song choices.
Also judging America's Got Talent, he had been flying back and forth to America and had missed out on some of the rehearsal process.
This majorly factored into the decision to cancel the celebrations, as X Factor bosses try to revive the talent contest.
Earlier this year, ITV boss Kevin Lygo said he wanted to try and make The X Factor “leap again” despite the competition’s flagging ratings and diminishing impact over the years.
It's safe to say the reaction X Factor: Celebrity has been divided online, with some less-than-thrilled with the abrupt shake-up and celebrity cast.
One Twitter fan urged Cowell to "bring back the normal X Factor" and "help change the lives of normal people," instead of spotlighting Love Island stars and YouTube influencers.
Whereas others praised the fact it didn’t rely on “sob stories”: "This is a great format - no fake sob stories, no shoutouts to grans and dying family members - just easy watching and some fun,” one fan wrote.
X Factor: Celebrity airs on Saturday's on ITV.
