Strictly Come Dancing's Will Bayley broke down in tears on It Takes Two tonight (October 30) as he opened up about being forced to quit the show.

It was announced earlier today that the Paralympian had to depart the BBC One show after injuring his knee, but he insists it was nothing to do with his arthrogryposis – a condition that affects his limbs.

"I just want people to know that it's not because I have a disability, I don't want people to be put off dancing, it can happen to anyone, it's just unlucky," he said.

Tearing up, he continued: "I didn't want it to end like this. I wouldn't mind properly ending it, even if we went out next week or the week before, but I didn’t want to end it like this.

"To do the salsa and getting you up in those lifts, I never thought I could do half of the stuff – but I was scared of dancing and [Janette] believed in me."

Janette Manrara, his professional dance partner, added: "I think as I said on the week, we ended this, it’s not how we wanted to end it, but in my eyes, we ended it on a high.

"That dance is the reason why I dance. We dance to touch people and inspire people and Will is the epitome of that, and that dance shows that."

Speaking about his exit in a statement, Strictly executive producer Sarah James said: "We are so sad that Will is unable to continue on the show.

"He is an incredible and talented person who has brought us some unforgettable moments this series – in particular his powerful and moving couples choice routine. He will be greatly missed and we wish him a speedy recovery."

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues on Saturday (November 2) at 7pm on BBC One.
