Here's why Terminator: Dark Fate doesn't have a post-credits scene - digitalspy.com

If Terminator: Dark Fate is to be the start of a brand new trilogy for the franchise, it's certainly not implied by the presence of a post-credits scene.

Indeed, for anyone wondering, there's no sequel-teasing clip after the credits, nor is there a comical throwaway moment to send you out the door chuckling.

And according to Dark Fate director Tim Miller, that's because post-credit scenes are inherently a "Marvel thing".

Back at the beginning of October, when asked by Fandango if there'd be anything at the end of the film, he said: "I love it, but I think it’s a uniquely Marvel thing. So, no."

As cinema-goers know by now, Marvel films typically use post-credit scenes to set up the next film in the series or in the shared universe. Two rare exceptions to this rule are Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Endgame co-director Joe Russo previously explained why the film didn't have a clip at the end, telling USA Today: "It was never in the cards. It was called Endgame for a reason. This is it. This is the ending.

"The book is closed on that chapter of the Marvel universe and a new book will get written."

Terminator: Dark Fate is out now in the UK. It's released in cinemas on November 1 in the US.
