I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! viewers were left heartbroken after Caitlyn Jenner's sad exit from the jungle this week.

After the former Olympian broke down during her exit interview talking about how much she missed her family while taking part in the ITV reality show, she then walked across the bridge to discover that nobody had come to meet her – leaving many fans in tears.

But The Daily Mail has reported that Caitlyn was in fact met by someone – her former campmate James Haskell, who was voted off a few days before Caitlyn.

Rugby player James and Caitlyn developed a strong friendship while in the jungle together and an onlooker told The Daily Mail that James asked to go and meet Caitlyn to 'make sure she had someone there', as her partner Sophia Hutchins' plane was delayed. He then accompanied her throughout the leaving process.

Caitlyn was said to be delighted by James' kind gesture – and she was later reunited with Hutchins after reaching the luxurious Palazzo Versace hotel.

Viewers were keen to praise James for being there for Caitlyn:

Many fans were left questioning why none of Caitlyn's famous family came to meet her.

Although none of them have officially confirmed why they were absent, Caitlyn's daughters Kendall and Kylie both appear to have been on holiday at the time of her elimination.

This year's I'm A Celebrity final will air tonight, with former EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa, Coronation Street star Andy Whyment and radio presenter Roman Kemp the three stars left vying for the jungle crown.

I'm a Celebrity airs nightly at 9pm on ITV, followed by I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp on ITV2.
