Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has finally arrived (in the UK, at least), but that hasn't stopped some from rewinding and revisiting its predecessor, Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi.
As fans and critics alike have their say on JJ Abrams' long-awaited conclusion to the Skywalker Saga, actor John Boyega – who plays Finn – has been reflecting on his character's role in the new trilogy, and where things could have been different.
Appearing on The Hollywood Reporter's Hollywood Remixed podcast to talk 'race in space', John admitted that although Rian Johnson's Episode VIII "excited" him and he "enjoyed the experience" of filming, he was left a little disappointed with Finn's arc.

"I liked the idea of these characters being challenged and separated and stressed, like everyone's just trying to get to each other," he said. "That excited me."
Adding that more could've been done with his and Kelly Marie Tran's characters in The Last Jedi, John explained: "But I will be honest in saying... I think that they could have done better with it, especially with Finn and Rose.
"You know, as a black person, you're going to feel a big type of weight. You had nothing to do with Rey and Kylo... [and] the story just wasn't here for me, with Finn and Rose."

Will The Rise of Skywalker fare better with Finn? The first reviews for Episode IX seem to suggest so, although there isn't an overwhelming consensus.
While some critics have questioned whether there's too much fan service, others highlighted the movie's quieter moments, as well as the franchise's iconic "spectacle and space-fighting".
In Digital Spy's verdict, we said that "it won't please everybody, of course, but there will be plenty who find it ends the Skywalker Saga on a high".
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a release date of Thursday, December 19 in the UK and Friday, December 20 in the US.
