Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Fans demand voting shake-up as Shirley Ballas eliminates Alex - Express

Strictly Come Dancing’s latest elimination has led to fans demanding the final decision be taken out of the judges hands. Alex Scott and Chris Ramsey went up against each other in tonight’s results show after receiving the lowest combined scores from the public and the judges. However when all four judges failed to make a majority decision, the final result came down to head judge Shirley Ballas.

In the BBC show, Chris and Karen Clifton performed their Foxtrot again followed by Alex and Neil Jones performing their Samba for a second time.

After their performances, the judges revealed who they wanted to save.

Craig Revel Horwood said: “I really loved the refreshing fusion of this particular dance and the fact that the dance was performed very, very well and the couple I’d like to save is Alex and Neil.”

Motsi Mabuse agreed: “I have to be honest, I have to say this is one of the most difficult things I have had to do for a long time, you were both great, I enjoyed it, I’m going to save Alex and Neil.”

“Judging needs to be changed. If it’s split should go to public not Shirley as otherwise it’s pointless asking others. And it shouldn’t be her personal taste it’s about dance not her preference ifs #Strictly,” another wrote.

“Really think it should go back to the public vote when it is a split decision #Strictly,” a third said.

“Why should Shirley have an extra vote, that was two votes each surely the fairest thing is to then go to the public vote #Strictly,” another tweeted.

“#Strictly sorry but surely Shirley makes the vote even it should go the public vote…otherwise in reality…other judges vote doesn’t matter as Shirley’s decision is final???” another added.

“It should go to the public vote instead of the head judge #Strictly,” a sixth remarked.

Elsewhere Emma Barton was left shaking after finding out she had made it through to the semi-finals.

Host Claudia Winkleman said: “Now, do you know what? I’m sitting quite far away from you but I can feel you shaking.”

“I am absolutely shaking,” Emma confessed. “I’m speechless Claudia.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 7pm.
