Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe speaks out after coronavirus hoax - digitalspy.com

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe wants fans to know that he is in good health following a social media hoax that falsely claimed he'd been diagnosed with coronavirus.

His representatives denied he was being treated for the disease earlier this week when people were fooled by a fake BBC account that spread claims he'd been the "first famous person to be publicly confirmed".

Radcliffe himself has now addressed the situation during an interview with Australian radio host Smallzy, where he took a humorous tone while revealing how he heard about the rumours.

"I walked into the hair and makeup room on the play [Endgame] yesterday and the makeup artist was like, 'My niece has just texted me and told me you've got corona'," Radcliffe explained.

"I was like, 'What?' He showed me a tweet and it was like, 'Daniel Radcliffe becomes the first famous person to contract coronavirus'. I think it's just because I look ill all the time so you can believably say it about me 'cause I'm very pale. That's the internet. Flattered they chose me."

Unfortunately, Tom Hanks revealed on Wednesday that both he and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus while filming Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Elvis Presley movie in Australia.

Hanks confirmed on Instagram that the couple are now in isolation as they undergo treatment for the disease.

"Well, now. What to do next?" he added. "The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed.

"We Hanks' will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?"

Many other events across the globe have been impacted by the outbreak, including E3 2020, the BAFTA Game Awards, numerous TV shows and films as well as even the closure of Disneyland. Advisories on public health can be found here.

If you need support regarding coronavirus, you can read the World Health Organisation's guidelines for proactive protection. If you're in the UK, the National Health Service can also provide useful information and support, while US users can contact the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
