There are a number of unexpected heroes emerging from the corona outbreak – and one of them comes in the form of a very famous fitness guru.

Coming as a saviour to parents everywhere who have suddenly become homeschoolers and fast becoming a national treasure, Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach, pledged to hold a 9am PE class live on his YouTube channel every weekday morning until schools reopen.

True to form, he started his classes – named PE With Joe – this Monday morning, with 806,000 people tuning in to join the first session live, on his channel TheBodyCoachTV, and over 2.3million watching the workout over the course of the first day.

Hundreds of cute photos and videos of kids then emerged (not least those of Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s brood doing the workout) that have given us as much of an uplift as if we’d actually done the workout ourselves (maybe tomorrow, ok Joe?) – so in order to share that joy, here’s a selection of uplifting pics and video of all you lovely lot enjoying the Wicks workout.

Suzan Beston says: 'Really enjoying this workout. After day 1 I felt full of energy and ready to face another day in isolation. Day 2: I felt a bit stiff this morning so considered not doing the workout... however I’m so pleased I did as I felt much better afterwards' It’s such a good way to cheer yourself up and so encouraging to see so many other people(from all over the world) joining in. People have been telling us how appreciative they are for the classes. ‘Brill! Many thanks Joe, what an amazing idea. My grandchildren, Roddy, Georgie, ( Frilsham), Freya and Tilly (Haddenham) love it. Thank you, thank you,’ said the Mackay family.

It wasn’t only kids enjoying Joe’s workouts. Chris Runyard said: ‘Thoroughly enjoyed today’s workout, Joe. I am a 73 year old in lockdown in Cyprus. Keep it up. A brilliant idea.’

‘I consider myself to be fairly fit but I was breathing heavily and sweating after this morning’s workout,’ says Lorraine, adding: ‘Thanks Joe. Keep up this great initiative. See you tomorrow.’

And Lesley, 65, from Kent had an enthusiastic response: ‘Brilliant,’ she said. ‘I’m going to do it every day.’
