The Strictly Come Dancing judges were tied over who to send home during tonight’s results show, but Shirley Ballas ended up having the final say which has sparked outrage online.
Alex Scott was eliminated from the competition after going head-to-head with comedian Chris Ramsay in the dreaded dance-off, but the judges were divided over who to vote off.
Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse both chose to save Alex, however, Bruno chose to save Chris.
Head judge Shirley then used her overriding power to vote footballer Alex out of the series.
‘Well again this is a very, very difficult decision,’ she said.
‘Both couples danced extremely well and for me, it’s going to go personal taste, and I’m going to go with the couples that I felt had the most content and more powerfully entertaining and therefore I am saving Chris and Karen.’

Viewers were left furious over the decision though and pleaded Strictly bosses to let the public have the final say when the panel is tied.

‘Judging needs to be changed,’ wrote one. ‘If its split should go to the public, not Shirley as otherwise, it’s pointless asking others. And it shouldn’t be her personal taste it’s about dance, not her preference.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another slammed: ‘I still disagree with Shirley being allowed the final decision? SURELY if it’s a split decision it should go back to the public vote?’

Why should Shirley have an extra vote, that was 2 votes each surely the fairest thing is to then go to the public vote #Strictly

#Strictly sorry but surely is shirley make the vote even it should go to the public vote. .. otherwise in reality..other judges vote doesnt matter as Shirley's decision Is final!???

It should go to the public vote instead of the head judge #strictly

If it is a tie it should go to the public vote, NOT the decision of one person.
Either that or don't have a 4th judge (may I recommend getting rid of Motsi)#Strictly

Claudia Winkleman addressed the glitch during tonight’s show, and said: ‘Apologies if you experienced any problems voting online on Saturday night.’
‘There was a technical problem but our independent verifier has confirmed we have a fair and valid result.
