Taylor Swift LEFT OFF best original song Oscars shortlist for Cats number Beautiful Ghosts as Beyonce makes top 15 for Lion King ballad Spirit

Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber will not be nominated for an Academy Award for their collaboration Beautiful Ghosts.

The 30-year-old pop star and 71-year-old Broadway composer wrote the number for the upcoming movie of his smash hit 1980s musical Cats.

However on Monday the Academy released its list of the final 15 contenders for best original song and Beautiful Ghosts was nowhere to be found.

Beyonce made the top 15 for co-writing Spirit with Ilya Salmanzadeh and Labrinth for the CGI remake of Disney's 1994 traditionally animated classic The Lion King.

The Lemonade impresaria also sang the stirring ballad for the movie, in which she had the starring voice role of the lioness Nala.

Tim Rice and Elton John, who won an Oscar for Can You Feel The Love Tonight from the animated version of The Lion King, are back on the shortlist for the same prize for writing Never Too Late for the CGI remake. 

Elton has also been shortlisted for (I'm Gonna) Love Me Again from his own biopic Rocketman. He co-wrote the number with his longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin.

Among the top 15 was Speechless, a power ballad given to Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott) for the live-action Disney remake of its animated feature Aladdin.

The number was written by the Broadway duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who previously won the Oscar for City Of Stars from La La Land.

Another shortlisted song is Letter To My Godfather, which Pharrell Williams sang and co-wrote for the Netflix documentary The Black Godfather.

Pharrell, who wrote the number with Chad Hugo, was nominated for best original song for Happy from Despicable Me 2 but lost to Let It Go from Frozen.

Into The Unknown from Frozen II has made it onto this year's shortlist, written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez of the original movie.

Da Bronx from the HBO doc The Bronx USA is also in the top 15, with lyrics by Paul Williams and music by Charles Fox.

Paul won an Oscar with Barbra Streisand in 1977 for writing the song Evergreen from A Star Is Born, while Charles has been nominated twice but never won.

Mary Steenburgen, who won an acting Oscar for Melvin And Howard, wrote Glasgow (No Place Like Home) for Wild Rose and has also wound up on the shortlist.

The final 15 include Stand Up from Harriet, Catchy Song from The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Daily Battles from Motherless Brooklyn, A Glass Of Soju from Parasite and High Above The Water from Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am.
