Revealed: What Canadians REALLY think of Meghan and Harry - shock poll results - Express

A recent survey conducted by Research Co asked Canadians their thoughts on current members of the monarchy, and revealed that Meghan’s favourability had fallen four points to 56 per cent, compared to that of Kate Middleton who is up at 64 percent.

The most popular figure as voted by the Canadian people is Queen Elizabeth II, who had only dropped two points below her 2019 tally.

When Canadians were asked who they would prefer to have as the next monarch, more than a third (35 per cent) selected Prince William, while one in four (25 percent) chose Prince Charles.

A group that has shown large growth, is one that believes there should be no monarch after Queen Elizabeth.

The main outcome after the post-Megxit survey post is that when it comes to Canadians and the monarchy is “indifference” according to Business Insider Vancouver.

They wrote: “The proportion of Canadians who simply do not care when asked about the monarchy increased by nine points in a year.”

It comes after Meghan and Harry appeared at times strained on their last royal engagement yesterday at Westminster Abbey.

Meghan was seen greeting her brother-in-law, Prince William, with a short “hi” and “hello”.

Kate, according to the Mail, appeared to “blank” Harry and Meghan, while the brothers only exchanged the briefest of greetings.

Harry seemed “pensive” and uncomfortable at yesterday’s service which is said to be one of the Queen’s favourite engagements.

Meanwhile, Meghan looked radiant in a regal emerald green dress designed by British designer Emilia Wickstead which she paired with a hat by William Chambers, heels by Aquazurra and a bag by Gabriela Hearst.

Camilla, who has recently been increasingly busy, opted to wear navy as she was spotted smiling warmly at Harry and Meghan who were in the second row.

Following royal protocol, Meghan curtsied for both the Queen and Prince Charles in the Abbey, before being seated.

The alleged rift between the two couples also spilt over onto Instagram, as Meghan left photos of her sister and brother in law out of her post.

However, Kate on her Instagram posted a sweet tribute to her husband’s family, with a slideshow of images.

Social media users weighed in on the supposed tension online.

One said: “A sad note, take away this being the RF, there has to be some real emotional pain going on. William is probably still in semi shock, he never expected this, while Kate probably really misses her fun brother in law. He has been a part of her family for years, like a younger brother...and both of them are probably sad about their kids not seeing uncle Harry anymore or getting to know their cousin.”

Another replied: “No matter what decisions they have made, at the core of this they are still FAMILY.“

A third exclaimed: ”These two need to grow up and remember the Royal Family does not revolve around them! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge show a lot more maturity.”

It comes as Meghan and Harry are finishing up royal engagements as they prepare to leave the UK on March 31.

1,000 adults were interviewed online by Research Co between February 21 to February 24, 2019. The data was statically weighted.
