A film of Sir Billy Connolly’s final stand-up tour has taken £400,000 at the box office in just one night.
The Sex Life of Bandages was screened across the country last Thursday, billed as a “special one-night-only event”, and beat Hollywood hits to come sixth in the UK box office chart. The film, of a show at the Sydney Opera House in February 2015, includes a previously unseen interview.
Connolly, 76, who has Parkinson’s disease, announced his retirement from stand-up last year but has hinted that he could return for a one-off show.
