Just as director Todd Phillips promised, Joker is anything but your typical comic book movie – and that's partly the reason why it doesn't have any sequel-teasing post-credits scenes.
However, the filmmaker did consider including bloopers at the end of the movie, as per the recommendation of the film's star Joaquin Phoenix.
Speaking to GamesRadar+ about the decision to not include any post-movie footage, Phillips said: "The idea of a post-credits scene in this movie would seem wrong, and a little too light for me.

"That wouldn't have been something we did. But Joaquin [Phoenix] said it would be funny to put bloopers alongside the names like they did in the old days."
In the end, they decided not to include bloopers either, perhaps because it wouldn't have been in-keeping with the film's dark tone, even though it is about a clown who can't control his laughing fits.

Elsewhere, Phillips also opened up about the film's ambiguous ending (major spoilers ahead).
Speaking about whether the events of the film actually take place or are completely made up by Joker, Phillips told the LA Times: "There's a lot of ways you could look at this movie.
"You could look at it and go, 'This is just one of his multiple-choice stories. None of it happened.' I don't want to say what it is.
"But a lot of people I've shown it to have said, 'Oh, I get it – he's just made up a story. The whole movie is the joke. It's this thing this guy in Arkham Asylum concocted. He might not even be the Joker'."
