Pop star accuses media of 'bullying' Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in shock interview - Express

In an interview on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the former Life Guards officer described the media’s overly critical coverage of the couple as “leaning on bullying.” The 45-year-old singer served alongside Harry in the army and was invited to the Prince’s wedding. During his conversation with Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, Mr Blunt pointed his finger at the media for its bitter coverage of the royal couple.

He jumped to their defence, in particular praising Harry for his charity work and for being a “phenomenal soldier”.

He said: “I do know [the couple], I might have spoken briefly about it.

“What I think I can see is they seem to be on the cover of the newspapers a lot and it seems to be quite vitriolic quite a lot of the time.

“Him, I know from the army, he’s a very nice man, a really phenomenal soldier who does a lot of work for other people, for charities, for veterans, the Sentebale charity for children in Africa.”

He added: “I think under great scrutiny they seem to try a lot for other people. So the vitriol seems a bit like leaning on bullying to me.”

The singer is set to release a new album later this week, called ‘Once Upon A Mind’.

In the ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, the Duchess of Sussex revealed her struggles in dealing with the constant tabloid media attention.

In reply to a question by the ITV presenter Tom Bradby about whether she was okay, Meghan said: “Well, I guess, and also thank you for asking, but not many people have asked if I’m ok, but it’s a very real thing to be faint through behind the scenes.”

Meghan Markle gave up her whole way of life to marry into royal family

“I couldn’t go through what Meghan’s been subjected to now, never mind throughout pregnancy & whilst becoming a new mom.

“Absolutely mind blowing.”

Another user commented: “I respect Meghan. She's not asking you to adore her, to worship at her feet, but to be treated justly and fairly.

“She's willing to fight for that because surviving is not enough.

“Her husband is unwilling to be bullied to appease you and your entitlement.”

In the documentary Harry also opened up on just how much he is still haunted by the memories of his dead mother, Princess Diana.

When asked whether he felt at peace yet with her memories, the Prince revealingly admitted that he wasn’t and that the wounds still festered.

He vowed to protect his family, saying: ”Everything that she went through, and what happened to her, is incredibly important every single day, and that is not me being paranoid, that is just me not wanting a repeat of the past.

“If anybody else knew what I knew, be it a father or be it a husband, be it anyone, you would probably be doing exactly what I am doing as well.”
