Strictly's Craig Revel-Horwood hits out at 'know-nothing' fans over Dev Griffin axe - Daily Mail

'They can kick off as much as they like': Strictly's Craig Revel-Horwood hits out at 'know-nothing' fans who criticised his scoring for axed Dev Griffin

Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel-Horwood has slammed 'know-nothing' fans who were left disappointed by his scoring for Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell, as they were eliminated from the series last week.

The show judge, 54, was met with criticism from viewers for sending the radio DJ, 34, and the professional dancer, 30, home, but has since stood by his decision and insisted they should take his comments on board as he's 'trying to help' the contestants.

Outspoken choreographer Craig also hit out at former pro dancer James Jordan - who declared he should be sacked from the series - as he claimed his ex co-star has spoken out in a bid to seek publicity.

Dev and Dianne were the third couple to be eliminated from the BBC series and their exit was marred in controversy after viewers claimed they couldn't vote for them because the phone lines weren't working.

Fans have also blamed judges Craig, Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli and Shirley Ballas for their departure as they landed in the bottom two against Emma Weymouth and Aljaž Škorjanec, with Shirley even receiving death threats as a result of their verdict.

On their exit, Craig told The Mirror at The Best Heroes Awards on Tuesday: 'They can kick off as much as they like. How much do they know about the cha cha cha? Nothing darling.'

'Dev was the worst dancer on the night but if he had done his other routines then he may have been successful going through.'

'I am going to help them in the end. I critique them to help people. If you listen to my comments they are quite sound and if they go away and listen to them then they might get better.'

Earlier this month, James launched a scathing rant at Craig as he insisted that he's no longer needed on the panel and 'no-one will miss him' if he left.

Fighting back at his remarks, TV personality Craig claimed the CBB star is 'just out for publicity'.

Fellow judge Shirley, 59, has also defended her 'heartbreaking' decision to send Dev home by emphasising how tough the competition is, stating: 'The level is super high this year'.

On Monday's Loose Women, the brunette elaborated: 'The professionals word so hard. She puts life and soul into her partner so I understood why she was a little bit upset. But, people have to get out there and vote.

'We do our job but as you can see, there was people who were saved with a lot lowers scores.'

Australian beauty Dianne recently admitted she was 'upset' on Dev's behalf, particularly because she was so 'proud' of his efforts in the ballroom, which placed him among the favourites.

Speaking to host Rylan Clark-Neal on It Takes Two earlier this week, she said: 'I was in a lot of shock. I didn't think that Dev would be in the bottom two for a while, if at all.

'I think he did an amazing job on Saturday night... I'm really proud of him but I'm really upset that he was in the bottom two and that he ended up leaving.'

Dev appeared to have already made peace with his departure from the show as he said: 'Every single week is so different, I don't think you can ever take your position from the previous week for granted...

'When I woke up that day, I didn't think I'd be in the bottom two, but I was,' adding that one of the things he's 'going to miss the most' is rehearsing new routines.
