Britain's Got Talent: The Champions has been pacing through casually over the past few weeks, but it seems it was a lot more hectic behind-the-scenes.

That's because the entire series was actually filmed in just one week, meaning that everyone had very little breathing space.

Previous BGT winner Richard Jones, who missed out on a place in the Champions final, told The Sun: "It was all in one week. I think it was Wednesday to Tuesday."

Explaining that the hosts and judges got little time to rest, he added: "The Britain's Got Talent team are amazing. I don't know how they do it but they hardly sleep at all in that week because they're so busy.

"But they're always on form, always lovely and they're a really switched-on team. I don't know how they manage it."

Jones also revealed that the fast turnaround meant that acts had to come prepared with a final act in case they made it through, which in some cases was just hours.

"It was a quick turnaround," the magician continued. "Everyone had to make sure they had a final prepared.

"In fact, what was a little bit of a shame was what I had in the final was special. It would have a great moment to show love for the Forces."

However, Jones said he had no hard feelings that judge David Walliams – who had the Golden Buzzer the night he performed – didn't put him through.

"Obviously it's down to David who he chooses," he said. "I don't hold anything against David for that. I was so overwhelmed by how it went down that I didn't need anything more. It was the audience I was there for."

The Britain's Got Talent: The Champions final airs tonight (October 5) at 8.30pm on ITV.
